Help & reference

Glossary

  • Job — a single unit of work (one download, one conversion, one transcription) that runs in the background and appears in the Job Queue.
  • Job Queue — the shared list of active and recent jobs, with progress and per-job actions.
  • Batch — a group of jobs created together (for example, every link in a Bulk Downloader import, or every image in a Background Remover run).
  • Utility — one of the built-in tools (Video Downloader, Bulk Downloader, Background Remover, Transcriber, Audio Extractor). Utilities can be turned on or off individually.
  • Output folder — the root location where all utilities save files, each into its own subfolder.
  • Model — a downloadable transcription file the Transcriber uses; larger models are more accurate but slower, and are downloaded on demand.
  • The bandwidth exchange — the sharing of your device's idle internet bandwidth that funds the free app; it never shares your files or personal data.
  • Metered connection — a network billed by data usage (like a mobile hotspot), where Spark Tray can automatically pause sharing.
  • Tray — the small icons near the Windows clock; Spark Tray runs here and reopens when you click its icon.
  • Channel — the update track you follow: Stable (tested) or Beta (earlier, more risk).
  • Sidecar file — a separate companion file (such as a subtitle file) saved alongside a download rather than embedded inside it.
