Configuration
Settings
Open Settings from the System section of the sidebar. There's a search box at the top — type to filter the sections and find a setting quickly.
General
- Output folder — the root folder where all utilities save their files (each into its own subfolder). Use Browse… to change it, or Reveal to open it in File Explorer.
- Job concurrency — how many jobs run at the same time (from 1 to 16). Raise it to process batches faster; lower it to be gentler on your computer and connection.
Notifications
- Notify when a job finishes — show a desktop notification when a download or conversion completes or fails.
Startup & window
- Launch on Windows startup — start Spark Tray automatically (minimized to the tray) when you log in to Windows.
Updates
- Update channel — choose Stable (recommended) or Beta (gets new releases earlier, with more risk).
- Check for updates — check for a newer version now. When an update has downloaded, this becomes Restart to update. (See Updates.)
Privacy & diagnostics
- Crash reports — send anonymized crash diagnostics to help fix problems.
- Usage analytics — send anonymous feature-usage statistics.
Neither ever includes your URLs, filenames, or the media you process. Both are optional and can be toggled at any time. (See Privacy & diagnostics.)
Network & bandwidth exchange
- Exchange status — a live, always-visible indicator of whether bandwidth is currently being shared. It's shown for transparency; there is no off switch (uninstalling ends participation).
- Pause on metered connections — stop sharing on connections that are billed by usage (for example a mobile hotspot).
- Throttle while you're active — automatically back off sharing while you're actively using your network.
(See The bandwidth exchange for the full explanation.)
Tools
- Shows the bundled download engine used by the download utilities, its installed version, and an Update now button. Occasionally a site changes and requires a newer engine to keep working — updating here fixes most "a site stopped working" issues.
Utilities
- A card for each utility, with a switch to enable or disable it. Disabled utilities are hidden from the sidebar.
- When a utility has configurable defaults, they appear here too. For example:
- Video Downloader — default quality, default audio format, and default subtitle language for new downloads.
- Transcriber — default model, default language, word-level timestamps, and translate.
- Audio Extractor — default quality mode, default format, and default bitrate.
- Each card also shows which subfolder that utility saves into.
About
- Version — the installed build of Spark Tray.
- Privacy policy — open the privacy policy.
- Open-source licenses — the licenses for the bundled tools, included with the app.
